Tulsa Nurse Saves Drowning Woman at Zink Lake
Amanda Bose turned an evening sunset walk into a life-saving rescue when she spotted a woman going under at Zink Lake's wave pool. The quick-thinking nurse jumped in, performed CPR, and revived the unconscious woman before paramedics arrived.
A peaceful Sunday evening turned into a heroic rescue when Tulsa nurse Amanda Bose spotted a woman drowning at Zink Lake and didn't hesitate to act.
Amanda had just sat down to watch the sunset near the wave pool when she saw two people suddenly submerge in the water. While a man managed to recover, the woman disappeared beneath the surface.
"I saw them go under and I was like, 'Oh! They're drowning,'" Amanda said. She immediately dove in and swam toward the struggling woman.
Just as Amanda feared she'd lost sight of her, the woman surfaced one more time. By then, she had already lost consciousness.
Amanda grabbed hold of the woman and began swimming back to shore. "It felt like I was swimming in place for a long time," she recalled.
Bystanders helped pull both Amanda and the unconscious woman from the water. With no time to waste, Amanda began CPR as others called 911.

Her nursing training kicked in perfectly. Amanda successfully revived the woman, who began breathing again before the ambulance arrived.
"At the end of the day, I'm just glad we're all safe," Amanda said simply.
Why This Inspires
Amanda's story carries extra meaning. Five years ago, she publicly shared her struggle with depression and thoughts of suicide. Today, that post remains pinned at the top of her Facebook page.
"As much as it feels like the world might be a better place without you, it's not," Amanda wrote in that earlier post. "You mean so much more than you know."
Now in a much better place mentally, Amanda wears a tattoo that reads "Give Yourself a Reason." She sees moments like this rescue as proof of her own strength and purpose.
"I feel like I'm constantly being shown these instances where I can do hard things and get through them," she said. "Not only can I do hard things and get through them, but I can also impact other people's lives."
Amanda's journey from her darkest moments to becoming someone's hero shows how much can change when we hold on and keep going.
