Two Brothers Clean Bihar's Water 70x Over Poison Limit
In Bihar villages where arsenic reached 70 times safe levels, two brothers turned a school project into a filtration system now delivering millions of liters of clean water. Their magnetic technology has brought toxin levels down to nearly zero across 13 communities.
Durga Yadav knows the water from her hand pump is killing her family. Her husband died of stomach cancer, and her brother-in-law passed away this year in Bhikchu Ka Dera, Bihar.
But without tap water access, she pumps anyway. The arsenic hiding in her groundwater has no taste, no smell, and no mercy.
In 2026, WaterAid India found arsenic levels hitting 704.4 parts per billion in Bihar's Simri block. That's over 70 times the safe limit of 10 ppb, and it's poisoning water for more than 10 million rural residents across the region.
The contamination spans 50 blocks in 11 districts. Research shows over 7,000 samples tested above dangerous thresholds, turning shallow aquifers into slow poison for families who have no other choice.
Two brothers decided that wasn't acceptable. Arpit and Abhijeet started tackling the crisis through a school project at Bihar Bal Bhawan Kilkari, determined to give families like Durga's a real alternative.

Their solution uses magnetic filtration to pull arsenic out at the molecular level. Unlike conventional filters that rely on chemicals or constant replacement parts, their system separates contaminants using magnetic technology.
After years of testing, they moved from classroom to community. Field pilots in Bhojpur and Buxar districts brought arsenic levels crashing down to below 2 ppb, validated by India's Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
The brothers launched Navmarg Research & Innovation to scale their invention. Today their systems operate across 13 sites, delivering 3.19 million liters of arsenic-safe water to schools and villages that desperately needed it.
The Ripple Effect
This technology does more than filter water. It breaks the impossible choice between thirst and poison that traps families in contaminated zones.
When mothers no longer have to watch their children drink water they know causes cancer, entire communities gain a future. Schools can operate without putting students at risk, and hand pumps stop being silent killers.
The brothers proved that local innovation can solve local crises when engineers listen to the people who live with the problem every day.
Safe water can't stay a promise on paper when 10 million people face invisible toxins with every sip, and now it doesn't have to.
