Two Marblehead Grads Win $2,500 Sterny's Way Scholarships
Marblehead High School seniors Kai Rozinsky and Ryan Angilly each earned $2,500 scholarships honoring a beloved youth sports coach who championed both athletics and the arts. The awards recognize students who excel in their passions while giving back to their community.
Two Marblehead High School graduates are heading to college this fall with $2,500 scholarships that celebrate their dedication to creativity, sports, and community service.
Kai Rozinsky won the Sterny's Way Arts Scholarship for his work as a graphic designer and freelance photographer. His photos have been displayed at the Marblehead Arts Association, but one project stands out above the rest.
When his photography teacher asked him to photograph special needs students for the yearbook, Kai jumped at the chance. The experience helped him deepen friendships and build new connections with classmates he might not have known otherwise.
Kai didn't just focus on art during high school. He played hockey, baseball, cross-country, and track while maintaining a 3.75 GPA. He also volunteered as a camp counselor teaching kids stand-up paddleboarding and worked on a congressional campaign.

Ryan Angilly earned the Sterny's Way Sports Scholarship after playing four sports throughout high school and captaining the baseball team as starting first baseman. He collected multiple awards including the Mark Tarmey Perseverance, Dedication and Leadership Award and the William A. Gillis Coaches Award.
Ryan turned his love of sports into service by volunteering as a coach at youth baseball, softball, and football camps for third through eighth graders. For his senior project, he maintained the fields at Gatchell's Park to keep them game-ready for young athletes.
The Ripple Effect
The scholarships honor David Stern, a Marblehead Youth Sports coaching legend and arts supporter who passed away in 2010. Established in 2019, the awards continue his legacy of encouraging young people to pursue both athletic and creative passions.
Both winners maintained honor roll status throughout high school while balancing multiple sports and volunteer commitments. Kai heads to the University of Vermont to study Parks, Recreation and Tourism with a photography minor, while Ryan will major in Business at the University of New Hampshire.
The Sterny's Way committee depends on community donations to fund these annual scholarships for graduates who demonstrate dedication to the arts while participating in youth baseball or softball programs.
