UAE Gets $75M Health Tech Hub for Preventive Care

WHOOP, a leading human performance technology company, partnered with Mubadala Investment Company on a $75 million deal announced at the Make it in the Emirates Forum in May 2026. The collaboration will establish Abu Dhabi as a research hub for sleep science, cardiovascular health, and performance optimization.

This isn't just another tech company setting up shop. WHOOP will open dedicated offices in the UAE and make it the first international market to offer their full Advanced Labs biomarker testing experience, previously only available in the United States.

For Arabic speakers across the region, the platform will soon be fully localized, breaking down language barriers that often keep cutting-edge health technology out of reach. That means millions more people can access data-driven insights about their sleep, recovery, and overall wellness in their native language.

The partnership also launches the WHOOP-Mubadala Health Research Initiative, which will collaborate with UAE institutions on long-term studies tracking cardiovascular health, sleep patterns, and behavioral performance. WHOOP founder Will Ahmed noted that their UAE journey began back in 2017 when they supported worker wellness during Expo 2020 Dubai preparations. The region's strong digital adoption and growing focus on wellness made it a natural choice for expansion.

Ali Eid AlMheiri from Mubadala emphasized that attracting global innovators helps build knowledge-based industries and strengthens the UAE's economic future. The investment fits into the country's broader push to develop life sciences capabilities and position itself as a leader in proactive, prevention-focused healthcare rather than just treatment.
