UAE Wins Historic T20 World Cup Match in Delhi Upset

Aryansh Sharma came home to deliver the performance of a lifetime, leading the UAE to a stunning five-wicket victory over Canada at the T20 World Cup in Delhi.

The 21-year-old wicketkeeper, born in nearby Noida but raised in Dubai since he was a toddler, scored an unbeaten 74 runs in front of his family and hometown crowd. His brilliant performance gave the UAE just their third win ever at a major cricket tournament.

The odds were stacked against them. The UAE had been in terrible form leading into the match, and Canada won the coin toss, choosing to bat first on what should have been a wearing pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

But fast bowler Junaid Siddique turned the tide early. He took five wickets to limit Canada to 150 runs, kneeling in prayer after claiming his fifth wicket with the second-to-last ball of the innings.
