UConn Women Go 50-0 With 24th Big East Championship Win

The UConn women's basketball team just made history look easy, crushing Villanova 90-51 to claim their 24th Big East tournament championship and extend their winning streak to 50 games.

Led by Azzi Fudd's 19 points and Sarah Strong's 18, the top-ranked Huskies dominated from the opening tip at Mohegan Sun Arena. Strong, who scored 15 points in the first half alone, earned tournament Most Outstanding Player honors for her stellar performance.

The victory marked the defending national champions' 34th win of an undefeated season. This is the 11th time in UConn's legendary history that the Huskies have entered March Madness without a single loss on their record.

Coach Geno Auriemma's squad learned from their last meeting with Villanova, where the Wildcats led at halftime. This time, UConn jumped ahead 23-11 after the first quarter and never looked back, building a commanding 49-23 halftime lead.

The win secured UConn's sixth consecutive Big East tournament title since rejoining the conference in 2021. The Huskies will enter the NCAA tournament as a No. 1 seed when the bracket is revealed Sunday.
