Uganda Bank Brings Free Healthcare to Thousands in Jinja

Lines started forming at 8:00am in Jinja City as hundreds of residents gathered for something many thought they'd never afford: free comprehensive healthcare.

Dfcu Bank partnered with Busoga Kingdom and Rotary to bring medical services directly to underserved communities in Uganda. The one-day health camp at Chairman's Park in Walukuba offered general diagnosis, screenings for chronic diseases, eye care, and treatment for various conditions.

The event marks 62 years of Dfcu Bank serving Ugandan communities. Executive Director Kate Kiiza explained that health is a critical pillar of development, and the bank wants to ensure essential medical services reach those who need them most.

This is only the beginning. Dfcu has committed 1 billion Ugandan shillings to fund similar health camps across different regions, with plans to serve over 2,000 people throughout their anniversary celebrations.

Geoffrey Martin Kitakule from Rotary District leadership highlighted why these partnerships matter. Bringing services directly to communities doesn't just treat illnesses; it promotes early detection and prevention that can save lives.

The Ripple Effect

The collaboration demonstrates what's possible when banks, civic organizations, and traditional kingdoms unite for public good. Busoga Kingdom's Second Deputy Katukiro, Alhaji Osman Noor, praised Dfcu for standing with the kingdom in fighting disease, poverty, and ignorance.

The impact extends beyond immediate medical care. Kingdom officials are using these health camps to raise awareness about regional challenges like teenage pregnancy, which continues affecting young girls' futures throughout Busoga.

For many beneficiaries, the free services provided access to medical care they simply couldn't afford otherwise. These camps bridge a critical gap in healthcare access for communities often left behind.
