UK Car Recycler Plants 6,500 Trees With Supply Partners
A vehicle recycling company is teaming up with suppliers to cut carbon emissions in a big way, planting thousands of trees and giving old parts new life. Their partnership proves that going green works better when businesses do it together.
When a car recycling company decides to tackle its carbon footprint, the biggest challenge isn't what happens inside its own walls. It's everything that happens outside them, in the complex web of suppliers and partners that keep the business running.
Copart UK, a global leader in vehicle remarketing and recycling, is working directly with its long-standing suppliers to slash emissions across its entire supply chain. The results show what's possible when companies stop working alone and start pulling in the same direction.
Belle Car Transporters and Specialised Trailers Ltd., one of Copart's key suppliers, has launched a biodiversity program that planted approximately 6,500 trees and protects local woodland areas and wildlife habitats. The company committed to planting four trees for every vehicle they've built for Copart over the decades, totaling over 600 trees so far.
But Belle Trailers isn't stopping at trees. They secured planning permission for a new refurbishment workshop at their Wethersfield site that will breathe new life into hydraulic cylinders from across the transporter industry. Instead of scrapping valuable steel components, they'll repair and reuse them, cutting waste, reducing demand for raw materials, and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

These so-called Scope 3 emissions, the ones that happen in a company's supply chain, make up a huge chunk of Copart's total carbon footprint. By working closely with suppliers, Copart gets better emissions data and more effective strategies for cutting pollution beyond their own operations.
The Ripple Effect
This partnership model creates waves far beyond two companies. When big players like Copart make sustainability a priority for their suppliers, it pushes entire industries to level up their environmental game.
Jamie Walker, Sustainability Manager at Copart UK, says long-term supplier partnerships play a critical role in reducing supply chain emissions while strengthening operations and delivering environmentally positive outcomes. Copart recently completed independent third-party verification of their greenhouse gas emissions following ISO 14064-3 standards, covering all emission scopes.
Jasmine Barnard, Sustainability Manager at Belle Trailers, notes both companies are actively working toward net-zero through woodland projects, environmental schemes, and component recycling. The collaboration shows that sustainability doesn't mean sacrificing business relationships; it means deepening them around shared values.
When companies join forces on climate action, everyone wins: the planet gets cleaner air and more trees, workers build expertise in green practices, and businesses create resilient supply chains ready for a low-carbon future.
