Tom Radford, a 40-year-old Marvel enthusiast from the UK, has officially broken the world record for most Marvel comic book characters tattooed on a single body. His collection of 63 distinct character tattoos nearly doubles the previous record of 34, held jointly by fans from the USA and Canada.

His journey started modestly in 2007 with a Spider-Man quote on his chest: "With great power comes great responsibility." At the time, Tom admits he wasn't thinking about world records or covering his entire body in superhero art.

The turning point came in 2016 when Tom got a detailed Thanos tattoo on his upper thigh. He chose that spot strategically, worried it might not turn out well and wanting to hide it if necessary. The result exceeded his expectations and sparked an obsession with quality Marvel ink.

Tom describes himself as a perfectionist when it comes to his Marvel designs. Years ago, he says tattoo technology couldn't capture the level of detail he wanted, so he waited. When the technology caught up with his vision, he spent months researching before finding a local studio he's now visited for a decade.
