Ukraine and Japan Launch Digital Partnership to Boost Tech

Ukraine and Japan announced a new strategic digital partnership during a meeting between Acting Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Bornyakov and Japanese Ambassador Masashi Nakagome. The Japan-Ukraine Digital Tech Cooperation initiative will help Ukrainian tech companies connect with international partners and break into the Japanese market.

The collaboration focuses on cutting-edge fields where both nations can learn from each other. These include robotics and unmanned systems, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital skills development.

Ukraine showcased its Diia.AI system, which the country calls the world's first national-scale AI agent. Already serving around one million Ukrainians, the platform helps citizens access public services like document extraction and fine payments without permanently storing personal data.

Ukrainian officials shared their experience defending against daily cyberattacks while maintaining critical digital infrastructure during wartime. Japan showed strong interest in these lessons, recognizing their value for strengthening cybersecurity resilience worldwide.

The Ukrainian delegation also presented Mriia, the country's digital education platform, and explained the Trembita data exchange system. This transparency tool records every instance of data access, ensuring accountability in how government handles citizen information.
