Ukraine Manufactures First 75-Meter Wind Turbine Blade

A Ukrainian company in Zakarpattia has created something that stretches nearly the length of a football field and weighs as much as three elephants: the country's first fully domestically manufactured wind turbine blade.

Friendly Wind Technology LLC produced the massive 75-meter-long, 25-ton blade using Ukrainian professionals, modern equipment, and world-class materials. The blade now sits ready for installation, marked proudly with "Made in Ukraine."

Viktor Mykyta, deputy head of the President's Office, called the achievement a completion of Ukraine's full domestic wind turbine production cycle. The country can now manufacture wind power equipment entirely on its own, without relying on imports.

The timing makes this breakthrough particularly significant. With ongoing attacks targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the nation has been racing to build distributed power generation that's harder to knock offline all at once.

The Ripple Effect

This isn't just about one blade. Ukraine added 324 megawatts of wind generation capacity in 2025 alone, more than the first three years of the full-scale war combined.

The country has set an ambitious target: increasing renewable energy to 27% of its total energy mix by 2030. Wind power, especially distributed across many locations, offers resilience that centralized systems can't match.
