The Ripple Effect

The growth is reshaping American manufacturing too. Nearly all current systems use Chinese-made cells, but new tariffs and tax credit requirements are pushing production stateside. Multiple factories are under construction across the US, though they won't meet full demand until around 2030.
"This is one of the strong sectors in the US," says Isshu Kikuma, an energy storage analyst at BloombergNEF.
Home battery installations did drop 16% this year after a tax credit expired in 2025. But experts expect residential systems to bounce back by decade's end as costs continue falling and homeowners seek backup power during outages.
