Utah High School Wins 10th Straight Wrestling Championship

The Juab High School wrestling team held up giant number "10s" Thursday night after clinching their 10th straight state championship in Richfield, Utah. It's a dynasty that has transformed this small community into a wrestling powerhouse where every kid grows up dreaming of wearing the crimson singlet.

"It really takes a community to be able to do this and give those kids something to perform for," said coach Joel Holman. The stands were packed with supporters wearing crimson shirts, their voices echoing through the Sevier Valley Center as Juab wrestlers battled on seven mats simultaneously.

Two Juab wrestlers captured individual state titles in the finals. Kaden Martineau won the 150-pound division, while Ladd Holman pinned his opponent in just 48 seconds at 190 pounds to seal the team victory.

"Wrestling is just part of my life," Martineau said after his win. "Without it, I don't know where I'd be."

For Ladd Holman, a junior earning his third consecutive individual title, the team victory meant more than personal glory. "It was fun for me, but it's even more fun to be part of the team," he said, adding that his coaches have become some of his best friends.

Not every Juab wrestler walked away with gold medals. Several lost their championship matches but bounced back to claim third place, scoring crucial points for the team total. Coach Holman said those comebacks showed the true character his program builds.

The Ripple Effect

The success extends far beyond trophy cases. Juab has become known as a wrestling town, with donations pouring in and volunteers dedicating countless hours to support the program. Young wrestlers now grow up in a community where excellence is expected and celebrated.

"When you know the community is behind you, watching and wanting you to succeed, you don't want to let them down," Holman explained. The support system creates a safety net that helps athletes push through adversity and attempt things they never thought possible.

Holman believes wrestling teaches life lessons better than any other sport because of its demanding nature. Athletes learn to handle both triumph and defeat with grace, representing not just themselves but their entire community.

The program now includes kids who have never known Juab as anything but a wrestling powerhouse. That legacy of excellence has become self-reinforcing, with each generation inspiring the next to maintain the standard.

With 277.5 points, Juab finished well ahead of second-place Canyon View's 232 points, proving the dynasty shows no signs of slowing down.
