Ventura Launches Free Small Business Support Events

Small business owners in Ventura are getting a powerful boost this week, and it won't cost them a penny.

The City of Ventura's Economic Development team is celebrating Small Business Week from May 4-8 with free events designed to connect entrepreneurs with the resources they need to grow. In a time when many small businesses struggle to access support, Ventura is rolling out the welcome mat.

"Small businesses are a vital part of Ventura's economy and what makes our community unique," said Meredith Hart, Economic Development Manager for the City of Ventura. The city is backing up that sentiment with action.

On Tuesday, May 5, the Small Business Success Hub opens at the Museum of Ventura County from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Business owners can drop in to meet with experts from the Ventura Chamber of Commerce, Women's Economic Ventures, and the Small Business Development Center, among other organizations. It's a chance to get answers without appointments or barriers.

Thursday's Pivot and Prosper Workshop takes a different approach. From 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at Palomino on South Palm Street, keynote speaker Heidi Luerra will guide participants through refreshing their business plans for today's changing market. The interactive session includes real-time feedback, giving owners practical tools they can use immediately.

But the support doesn't end when the week does. Ventura is launching Small Business Studio Sessions, a new year-round program offering one-on-one meetings with the Economic Development team. These personalized sessions provide local insights and access to business data tools that help owners make smarter decisions.

The city is also inviting businesses to join its Showcase Your Small Business campaign. Participants can share their stories for a chance to be featured on the city's social media platforms and receive a free window decal encouraging community pride in local shopping.

When cities invest in small businesses, everyone benefits. These entrepreneurs create jobs for neighbors, sponsor little league teams, and give neighborhoods their character. By offering free expert guidance and connection opportunities, Ventura is strengthening the entire community fabric.
