The sound of chainsaws echoing through Marshall County, Mississippi neighborhoods signals something powerful: help has arrived when people need it most.

Team Rubicon, a veteran-founded disaster relief organization, deployed volunteers from Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina to clear fallen trees and debris left by late January's brutal winter storm. Homeowner Doug Taylor watched crews work on his Holly Springs property with visible relief. "I think they're good men," he said. "It makes me feel good."

Commander Dean Wagner, leading Team Rubicon's Marshall County operations, said his team hit the ground running as soon as conditions allowed. "We're getting out and getting a feel for the community, seeing what's going on," Wagner explained. "A lot of people are asking for help, so we're trying to get out there and help them as much as we can."

The mission hasn't been easy. Ice damage created treacherous conditions that slowed travel and blocked access to supplies. "We've had a lot of logistical issues getting our equipment and our personnel out here, a lot of problems with flights," Wagner said. Empty store shelves made restocking difficult.

But these veterans aren't backing down. Team Rubicon committed to at least two weeks of cleanup work and will stay longer if residents still need assistance.
