Vietnam and Thailand Boost Science and Tech Partnership

Two Southeast Asian nations just turned their golden anniversary into a launchpad for the future.

During an official state visit to Bangkok, Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced expanded cooperation in science, technology, and innovation. The timing couldn't be more meaningful as Vietnam and Thailand mark 50 years of diplomatic friendship this August.

The leaders met with press on May 28 to share results of their talks, which focused on deepening what both countries call their comprehensive strategic partnership. This marks President To Lam's first visit to Thailand, and he brought a high-level delegation ready to turn decades of goodwill into concrete collaboration.

Vietnamese leaders recently announced plans to develop VNeID as an all-in-one digital super app and are targeting research capacity in the world's top 5%.
