Vietnam's New High-Speed Rail Cuts Travel Time to 23 Minutes

Imagine cutting your two-hour commute to just 23 minutes. That's the promise Vietnam is delivering with its first high-speed railway connecting Hanoi to Quang Ninh.

Vingroup officially launched construction on the Hanoi-Quang Ninh high-speed railway this month, marking a historic milestone for Southeast Asian transportation. The 120-kilometer line will link four major economic centers in northern Vietnam: Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh.

The railway represents a massive $5.6 billion investment in Vietnam's future. Trains will reach speeds up to 350 kilometers per hour on the dual-track, fully electrified system, making it one of the fastest rail networks in Southeast Asia.

Five strategically placed stations will serve travelers along the route. The line begins at Co Loa Station in Hanoi and ends at Ha Long Station in Quang Ninh, with stops in Gia Binh, Ninh Xa, and Yen Tu connecting passengers to industrial hubs and tourist destinations.

The project timeline targets completion by the end of 2028. Once operational, the railway will reduce travel times by five to seven times compared to current road transportation.
