Villagers Save Exhausted Owl in Turkish Mountains

When residents near Çatak village spotted an exhausted owl that had fallen to the ground, they knew every minute counted.

The weakened bird was discovered in Sarıkamış, a town nestled in the mountains of northeastern Turkey. Local resident Ebubekir Yıldırım and his friends immediately contacted the Sarıkamış Allahuekber Mountains National Parks team to get the owl help.

The rescue team quickly took custody of the bird and transported it to the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center at Kafkas University. There, wildlife specialists assessed the owl's condition and began treatment to help it regain strength.

"The owl had fallen near Çatak village, and some friends spotted it," Yıldırım explained. "We immediately contacted the Nature Conservation and National Parks team and handed it over so it could receive care."
