Virginia Tech Legend Gives $100K for Kids' Health Rooms

A legendary college football coach is putting his values into action with a six-figure gift that will help thousands of children get the care they need.

Bud Foster, the former Virginia Tech defensive coordinator beloved by Hokie fans, donated $100,000 through his Lunch Pail Defense Foundation to the Community Health Center of the New River Valley in Christiansburg, Virginia. The money will fund four new pediatric treatment rooms, split evenly between medical and dental care.

The donation supports the health center's "A New Home for Health, Healing and Hope" capital campaign. These new rooms will give young patients a dedicated space designed just for them, making healthcare visits less intimidating and more comfortable.

Foster created his foundation to extend the famous Hokies lunch pail tradition beyond the football field. For years, Virginia Tech's defense awarded a lunch pail to the hardest-working player each game, symbolizing blue-collar toughness and dedication. Now that same spirit is building healthier communities across the region.
