Volunteers Deep Clean Home for Cancer Patient Moving

Betty Scott faced an impossible challenge. While recovering from a broken hip and undergoing treatment for breast cancer and heart failure, she needed to move to a handicap-accessible apartment in Albuquerque.

That's when Kayle Bomber, owner of Kayle's Cleaning LLC, showed up with a team of volunteers and professional cleaners. Together, they spent the first weekend of spring giving Betty's new home a complete two-day deep cleaning, completely free of charge.

The timing couldn't have been more crucial. Betty's caregiver granddaughter had recently moved in to help, and the family was scrambling to prepare the new space while managing Betty's medical needs.

"They're very honest," Betty said of the volunteers. "You can't ask for a better crew. There's only one word to explain it, and that's wonderful."

The volunteers came through the Zep Cleaning With Compassion program, which partners with local cleaning professionals to help families experiencing hardship. Each cleaning is done by skilled professionals, but at no cost to families who need it most.

The Ripple Effect

What started as one company helping families is growing into a nationwide movement. Zep's Cleaning With Compassion program aims to complete free professional cleanings in all 50 states by 2027.

The initiative works by building a network of local cleaning professionals who donate their time and skills in their own communities. This means families like Betty's can receive help from people who understand their neighborhood and truly care about their neighbors.

For Betty, the cleaning meant more than just a tidy space. It meant moving into a safe, livable home where she can focus on healing instead of worrying about impossible tasks.
