Wales Sanctuary Saves 10 Pregnant Goats From Hot Trailer
Ten goats, including four pregnant mothers, now roam free on 26 acres after being rescued from a filthy, overheated trailer in west Wales. Community donations made the urgent rescue possible, giving these animals a second chance at life.
A herd of goats discovered trapped in a dirty, overheated trailer in west Wales is now running free across green pastures, thanks to an urgent community rescue effort.
Grove Farm sanctuary in Newport saved ten goats that had been living in distressing conditions after their previous owner passed away. The animals, which once roamed freely, had been rounded up and locked inside a cramped trailer with no ventilation.
Holly Gillum, who founded Grove Farm, couldn't ignore their suffering. "These goats have been rounded up. They lived free-range and the farmer died," she said. "They were being kept locked in a dirty, hot trailer. I felt sick, I couldn't stop crying."
Four of the rescued goats are believed to be heavily pregnant. Instead of giving birth in that sweltering trailer, they'll now deliver their babies on 26 acres of open land.
The rescue happened quickly once Gillum put out an urgent appeal. Local donors responded with bedding, feed, and funds to cover transport and veterinary care.

"Another huge thank you to everyone who donated," Gillum shared after bringing the goats home. "They are now running free across acres of green pasture, no more sticks, no more cramped, dirty trailers."
The Ripple Effect
These ten goats won't just enjoy their own second chance. Grove Farm is developing therapeutic and educational programs to support people with additional needs and mental health challenges.
The 33-year-old founder has rescued ponies, dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigs, birds and chickens since taking on the lease of the previously unused 26-acre site. "We're trying to give the animals another start and another chance in life, and also in doing so, helping educate the public and the younger generation of how to care for animals long term," she explained.
The sanctuary operates entirely on community support and is working toward planning permission to officially run as an animal sanctuary and therapy facility. Gillum has applied for the necessary approvals to make Grove Farm a permanent safe haven.
For now, the rescued goats are settling into their new home, receiving vaccinations and veterinary checkups. The pregnant mothers will be monitored closely as they prepare to give birth in safety and comfort, surrounded by people who care.
These intelligent, loving animals survived a terrible situation and now have the chance to help others heal.
