Weather Forecast Raises $2,400 for Cancer Families in NC

A simple weather forecast just became a lifeline for families battling cancer in Kenly, North Carolina.

Kitchen Goat Feeds received $2,400 in March 2026 after being selected as the CBS 17 3 Degree Guarantee charity winner. The creative program works like this: each evening, meteorologists predict the next day's high temperature, and when they get within three degrees of accuracy, CBS 17 and Michael & Son donate to a local charity.

Jason Knapp, who leads Kitchen Goat Feeds, presented $1,200 of the winnings to the Kenly Police Department on Wednesday. The money will help local individuals and families offset the crushing financial hardships that often accompany cancer treatment.

"People like Jason Knapp are shining a light into the lives of people facing some of the darkest chapters of their lives while battling cancer," said Police Chief James Ayers. His department will distribute the funds to those who need it most.
