Welsh Man Celebrates 90th Birthday With £700 Charity Gift

A Welsh man turned his 90th birthday party into a fundraiser for the medical team that once saved his life.

Ray Price from Penybont celebrated his milestone birthday at the Severn Arms Hotel with family and friends. But instead of accepting gifts, he asked everyone to donate to Wales Air Ambulance, raising £700 for the lifesaving service.

The choice was deeply personal. Fifteen years ago, Ray suffered a heart attack in Llandrindod Wells and needed urgent care. The Wales Air Ambulance team airlifted him to Wolverhampton hospital in just 25 minutes, a journey that would have taken over an hour by road.

That quick response helped save his life. Now, at 90, Ray wanted to give something back.

At the celebration, Ray presented a cheque for £700 to Brian Tolley, a representative from Wales Air Ambulance. Ray thanked everyone who contributed and said he remains grateful for the care he received all those years ago.
