Wenatchee Attempts World Record for Largest Lotería Game

Students in Wenatchee created something bigger than a class project. Now their custom Lotería game is bringing an entire community together for a world record attempt.

Pinnacles Prep Charter School is partnering with Parque Padrinos to host what could become the world's largest Lotería game on Friday at the Wenatchee Convention Center. Spanish teacher Luis Rodriguez and his students designed "Huenachi Lotería" last spring, a version of the beloved Mexican bingo game that celebrates their community.

The game comes with a companion book titled "Yo Soy Wenatchee." Rodriguez's sophomore and freshman students poured their creativity into both projects, blending their cultural heritage with local pride.

The event kicks off at 4 p.m. with a patio party before the main game runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. After the record attempt, the celebration continues with dancing and live music from Faraones del Norte until 10:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $10 per person or $40 for a family of four. Each admission includes 10 rounds of Lotería and access to the concert, making it an affordable evening of community connection.

The Ripple Effect

What started as a classroom language project has transformed into a celebration that honors Latino culture while bringing the entire Wenatchee Valley together. The students didn't just learn Spanish vocabulary or game design. They created something that makes their neighbors feel seen and valued.

Record attempts like this one remind communities what they can accomplish when schools, nonprofits, and families unite around shared joy. Whether or not Wenatchee officially breaks the record, hundreds of people will gather Friday to play, laugh, and celebrate together.
