Wisconsin Prom Celebrates Special Needs Students for 5th Year

For the fifth year running, students with special needs in Wisconsin's Chippewa Valley will get the prom experience every teenager deserves.

The Born to Shine Prom takes place April 11 in Eau Claire, transforming an ordinary Saturday into an evening of dancing, photos, and pure joy. High school students and young adults with special needs will celebrate from 4 to 7 p.m. in a space designed just for them.

At 6 p.m., the event gets even more special. Superheroes and princesses will join the dance floor, creating moments that organizers say attendees talk about all year long.

The event relies entirely on community volunteers to create this experience. Organizers need help with everything from setup and decorating on Friday to serving as one-on-one buddies for attendees on Saturday evening.

High school students are especially wanted to dress up as superheroes or princesses from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Other roles include greeting guests at check-in, helping with hair and makeup, serving refreshments, cheering on the red carpet, and assisting with the DJ and photo booth.
