Woman Clears Snow Path With Bare Hands for NYC Elderly Lady

When a historic blizzard buried New York City under heavy snow on Feb. 23, one stranger proved that human kindness can break through even the worst weather.

An elderly woman with a cane found herself struggling along a snow-blocked sidewalk at W. 75th Street and Broadway. The storm, one of the 10 worst to hit the city in 150 years according to NBC News, had made the streets nearly impassable.

Then another woman stopped to help. She got down on her hands and knees and began shoveling a path through the snow with just her gloved hands, clearing the way one handful at a time.

Once the path was clear, she gently helped the elderly woman navigate the treacherous stretch to safety. The entire moment was captured on video by a guest at the nearby Beacon Hotel and shared by @newyorklocals.

The person who filmed it, @hamsterjam88, was stranded at the Beacon Hotel after her flight was cancelled. From her window, she witnessed the act of kindness unfold during one of the city's most challenging weather events in recent memory.
