Women's Basketball Hall of Famers Honored at Phoenix Final Four

Phoenix turned into basketball royalty central as some of the sport's greatest legends took center stage during the Women's Final Four semifinals.

The crowd erupted when Hall of Fame inductees walked onto the court during halftime of the UConn-South Carolina matchup. Julius Erving and Lisa Leslie welcomed the newest class, creating a moment that connected decades of basketball excellence.

Former Phoenix Suns coach Mike D'Antoni received recognition for his revolutionary 20-plus years of NBA coaching. Standing beside him was Amar'e Stoudemire, the powerhouse forward who helped define D'Antoni's famous "seven seconds or less" offense that changed how basketball is played.

The 1996 Olympic gold medal women's basketball team walked out to thunderous applause. Among them was Dawn Staley, who now coaches South Carolina and stood in the building both as a legendary player being honored and as a coach competing for another championship.

The loudest ovation belonged to Candace Parker, whose decorated career began at Tennessee under the legendary Pat Summitt. From 2005 to 2008, Parker accomplished what few ever have: back-to-back national championships and consecutive Player of the Year awards.

All four number one seeds reaching Phoenix marked just the fifth time this has happened in tournament history. Over 104,000 bracket entries correctly predicted these four teams, with UConn appearing in more than 80 percent of all brackets as fans hope to see the Huskies claim their 13th championship.
