Yale Women's Sailing Team Wins NEISA Championship

Yale's women's sailing team just proved that patience and skill make an unbeatable combination, clinching the NEISA Women's Team Race Championship at Upper Mystic Lake in Medford, Massachusetts.

The Bulldogs dominated the weekend regatta with a 15-4 record, claiming the coveted Legler Trophy. Three skippers—Carly Kieding, Dorothy Mendelblatt, and Elle Sykes—teamed up with four talented crews: Sarah Moeder, Julia Miller, Clara Diaz Suarez, and Carmen Berg.

Mother Nature threw everything at the competitors over two days of racing. Saturday brought gusty conditions with winds swinging between north and west, ranging from 10 to 20 knots before shifting further west as the day wore on.

Sunday tested everyone's patience with barely sailable conditions that forced officials to abandon several races. By afternoon, the wind finally cooperated enough to complete the crucial rounds for the top eight teams and the final four.

The team battled through 10 competing schools to complete one full round robin on Saturday. Sunday's improved conditions allowed the top contenders to showcase their skills when it mattered most.
