Yemeni politicians gathered in Riyadh this weekend for their first unified meeting in years, signaling new momentum toward peace in a nation torn by civil war since 2014. The Sunday gathering brought together leaders from southern Yemen who had been on opposite sides of recent clashes.

"This meeting expresses a unified southern will," the group said in a joint statement. Leaders from different communities and regions came together seeking what they called "a just, secure and guaranteed solution."

The meeting represents a major shift after the dissolution of the Southern Transitional Council, a separatist group that had complicated peace efforts. Saudi Arabia is now hosting broader peace talks, though dates haven't been announced yet.
