In a pivotal moment for Yobe State's economic development, Governor Mai Mala Buni has signed the 2026 Appropriation and Finance Bills, charting a strategic course for comprehensive regional growth and infrastructure advancement.

The budget, totaling N515.5 billion and dubbed the 'Budget of Economic Growth and Infrastructural Transformation', represents a meticulous blueprint for improving citizens' living conditions across critical sectors including education, health, agriculture, and employment.

During the signing ceremony, Governor Buni praised the Yobe State House of Assembly for their collaborative efforts, highlighting that the budget underwent minor adjustments, decreasing from the initial N515.583 billion to N515.532 billion. The refined financial plan allocates N291.9 billion (62%) to capital projects and N223.6 billion (38%) to recurrent services.

The governor emphasized the administration's commitment to fiscal responsibility, promising implementation guided by principles of accountability, transparency, and strict adherence to budgetary discipline. He referenced recognitions from development partners like the World Bank's SIFTAS initiative and independent budget-tracking organization BudgIT as testament to the state's sound financial management.

Legislative support was underscored by Speaker Ciroman Buba Mashio, who reaffirmed the House of Assembly's dedication to maintaining a harmonious relationship with the executive branch, ultimately serving the people of Yobe State.

Governor Buni confirmed that the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, alongside the Ministries of Budget and Planning and Finance, would provide robust policy direction to ensure effective budget monitoring, evaluation, and implementation across all state departments and agencies.
