Yucca Valley Softball Team Wins State, Heads to Regionals

The Tri-Valley Little League softball all-stars proved they belong among California's best, defeating Fontana Elks 11-7 to claim the Southern California State Tournament championship in Hemet. The victory marks the first state title in program history for the Yucca Valley team.

The tournament starts July 23, but the team faces a challenge that has nothing to do with batting averages or pitching speed. Travel and lodging costs for the Montana trip are stretching many families' budgets beyond their limits.
