Zimbabwe Dad Drops Charges Against Ex-Wife for His Kids

A father's love just ended a family legal battle in Zimbabwe, proving that sometimes the hardest choice is also the right one.

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo announced he's dropping all charges against his ex-wife Sonja Madzikanda and her mother Tabitha after his children repeatedly asked where their mom was. The emotional phone calls from his kids changed everything.

"She's the mother of my children, so I have forgiven her," Chivayo told reporters. "My kids have been calling, asking, where is mommy? So, once it involves my kids, I'm defeated because they are the people I love the most."

The legal dispute began after Chivayo accused his former mother-in-law of circulating fake images involving him and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. The situation escalated to arrests, but Chivayo now says his children's wellbeing matters more than any grievance.

The businessman doesn't regret the initial legal action, maintaining that disrespecting heads of state crossed a line. Still, he recognized that continuing the case would hurt the people who matter most.

A financial disagreement also fueled the conflict, involving a $5 million fund set aside for the children's future. Chivayo claimed his ex-wife attempted to use these funds to purchase $1.4 million in land, but he emphasized that no actual fraud occurred.

"Our relationship can never end," he explained. "We have two children, and I will still be there for them."
