Michigan Teacher Wins Top Honor for Special Ed Work
Erik Meerschaert, who helps students with cognitive impairments shine through unified sports, was named Michigan's 2026-27 Teacher of the Year from 85,000 educators statewide. His Lake Orion High School auditorium erupted in celebration when the surprise announcement was made.
