Envision Energy Unveils Battery Tech for AI Data Centers

Envision Energy is making it easier to power AI data centers with clean energy, unveiling battery technology that tackles two massive energy challenges at once.

At The smarter E 2026 conference, the company showed off specialized battery systems built specifically for AI infrastructure. The centerpiece is an 800 Volt DC battery paired with a Solid-State Transformer, available in both lithium iron phosphate and sodium-ion versions.

Dr. Kotub Uddin, the company's battery storage chief, explained that these aren't just regular batteries scaled up. They're engineered for the unique demands of artificial intelligence computing, which requires massive, stable power flows.

But Envision didn't stop with AI. The company also introduced a 4 MWh energy storage block designed to store renewable energy for hours or even days, addressing one of solar and wind power's biggest hurdles.

What makes this storage system special is its all-in-one design. It comes fully integrated with its own power conversion system, fire suppression, and transformer, making installation faster and safer.

AI-based control systems manage all these new products, including hybrid setups that can blend different energy sources seamlessly. It's technology managing technology, optimizing how clean power flows where it's needed most.

The Ripple Effect

Envision's timing couldn't be better. AI data centers are multiplying rapidly, and each one consumes as much electricity as a small city.

Finding clean ways to power this AI boom has become urgent. Traditional grids struggle to meet the surging demand, and fossil fuel solutions contradict climate goals.

Daniel Greten, who leads Envision's European battery operations, shared ambitious expansion plans. The company is strengthening its foothold in Germany, Spain, and the UK while pushing into Poland, Romania, and Finland.

This expansion means more renewable energy storage across Europe, helping countries move away from fossil fuels faster. When solar panels overproduce on sunny days or wind turbines spin overtime during storms, that excess energy won't go to waste.

The marriage of AI and clean energy storage creates a powerful feedback loop. Better batteries enable more renewable power, which trains better AI models, which can optimize energy systems even further.
