Captain Dimitrios Masouridis couldn't hold back tears as Greece secured their first-ever victory in elite international Baseball5 competition, defeating Kosovo at the Mediterranean Cup in Taranto, Italy.

"I'm really proud right now and emotional. After the game I was crying," Masouridis said. "I'm very proud of my team, my teammates - the girls and the boys - they gave everything."

The win marked a breakthrough moment for Greek Baseball5. Their only previous major tournament appearance ended with a 10th place finish at the 2022 U-17 European Championship, where they won no matches.

Four years of dedication finally paid off in Italy. Only one player, Efthimis Andritsopoulos, competed in both tournaments, making the journey from disappointment to victory even sweeter.

The win came with extra meaning for teammate Christos Afroudakis, who celebrated both his birthday and his country's historic achievement on the same day. Andritsopoulos played through an early tournament injury, proud to contribute despite limitations.
