Groom Surprises Broadway-Loving Bride with Les Mis Wedding Show

Gabe Weiss pulled off what he calls "the greatest heist" when he secretly planned a Broadway-quality performance of Les Misérables for his bride at their New Jersey wedding reception.

Lori Travers, a kindergarten teacher from Scotch Plains who uses theater techniques in her classroom, had casually mentioned to Weiss just once that it would be amazing to have a Broadway performance at their wedding. He remembered that single comment and turned it into reality at Preakness Hills Country Club in Wayne.

The surprise required serious coordination. Weiss enlisted their best man, Zach Love, to choreograph the entire performance and recruited wedding party members and friends who shared the couple's love of theater.

When the performance began during the reception, Travers was completely surprised. A video of her emotional reaction, shared on TikTok by The Social Status Co, quickly went viral.

Les Misérables holds special meaning for Travers. Her father took her to see the show and splurged on sixth row tickets, cementing it as one of her favorites. She's performed in community theater for years and brings that passion into her kindergarten classroom.
