With her team one win away from another regional championship and Danyella Mporokoso sitting just one point shy of a school record, Friday night was destined to be special at Waubonsie Valley High School.

The senior guard didn't waste any time. Mporokoso drained a three-pointer in the first quarter to break Ashley Luke's 2,885-point school record, then kept right on going.

By the time the final buzzer sounded on Waubonsie's 71-49 victory over Plainfield North, Mporokoso had poured in 31 points. Her new career total of 2,916 points didn't just rewrite the school record books—it launched her to 13th on Illinois' all-time scoring list.

The performance showcased exactly why Mporokoso has become such a force in Illinois high school basketball. She hit from beyond the arc, knocked down mid-range jumpers, and even found time to set up teammates like Maya Pereda for crucial baskets.
