Missouri Women Buy Homeless Man RV and Land Him Dream Job

Dan Cuthern spent over a decade sleeping under a Missouri overpass with only his dog Bentley for comfort, but five women who crossed his path refused to let his story end there.

The women met Dan in Jefferson County and immediately felt moved to help. They started a fundraiser in February that raised enough to move Dan into a hotel room, giving him his first real bed in years.

But as they spent time with Dan, they realized a few nights in a hotel wouldn't solve the deeper problem. Getting someone off the streets isn't as simple as handing them money or a temporary place to crash.

"You don't realize how hard it is for someone to get back on their feet until you're trying to help them do it," one woman explained.

So they kept fundraising, added their own money, and found something permanent: an affordable RV that Dan and Bentley could call home. When they surprised him with the keys, Dan could barely speak before managing two words: "I love it."

Throughout their time together, the women noticed something that made Dan even more special. No matter how hungry he was, Bentley always ate first.

"There was a week that went by, I didn't eat, but my dog didn't go hungry," Dan said.

His devotion to Bentley inspired the women to find him a job that honored that bond. They connected him with a local doggy daycare, and Dan jumped at the chance to work with animals every day.

Dan doesn't call these five women his helpers or benefactors. He calls them "my brothers and sisters now." They gave him more than a home and a paycheck. They gave him proof that strangers can become family when compassion meets action.

The women say they're not going anywhere. "He's gonna have us as a staple in his life for quite some time," one promised.

Now Dan has a roof overhead, a job he loves, a dog who's never been healthier, and five people who transformed from strangers into lifelong support.
