Oklahoma Principal Tackles Shooter, Crowned Prom King

Principal Kirk Moore didn't hesitate when former student Victor Hawkins walked into Pauls Valley High School with a handgun. Security footage shows Moore bursting from his office, tackling the armed intruder to the ground before he could harm anyone in the crowded lobby.

The gunman had already pointed the weapon at several students when Moore intervened. Another staff member quickly removed the gun as Moore restrained Hawkins, but the principal had been shot during the struggle.

Moore was airlifted to a nearby Oklahoma hospital for treatment. Despite his injuries, he was back on his feet within days, determined to return to the students who needed to see he was okay.

The students had other plans beyond a simple welcome back. At their prom later that month, they surprised Moore with something no principal expects: a Prom King crown.
