129,000 Women Compete in Record-Breaking AI Hackathon
Nearly 129,000 women from across India just shattered a world record in the largest women-only AI hackathon ever held. Three winners created AI tools helping women build financial independence, find careers, and grow rural businesses.
Nearly 129,000 women from over 5,000 Indian cities just proved that the future of artificial intelligence isn't just male or urban. Their collective ambition earned them a Guinness World Record and created a brand new category recognizing women in emerging technology.
Logitech partnered with Aspire For Her to host the nationwide Women Who Master hackathon, designed to give women hands-on skills in generative AI and machine learning. What started with 129,000 registrants from 15,000 colleges narrowed down through three competitive rounds to 112 finalists who gathered at Logitech's Chennai headquarters.
The winning solutions tackled real problems facing women today. Kritika Yadav from Nagpur won first place for HerFinance, an AI companion that helps women understand money, assess risks, and make confident financial decisions. Priti Kumari Pandey from Vadodara came in second with an AI tool helping women identify career paths and improve job readiness. Mridul Singh Soam from Delhi created KarigarSetu, connecting women artisans with marketing insights and sales opportunities.
The numbers tell a powerful story about where India's tech talent lives. More than 60% of registrations came from Tier 2, Tier 3, and emerging cities, far beyond India's traditional technology hubs like Bangalore and Mumbai. Over 26,000 women competed in the first online round, with 2,800 advancing to eight regional competitions before the final 112 headed to Chennai.

The scale impressed Guinness World Records enough that they created an entirely new category: "Largest Women-Only Generative AI Hackathon (Multiple Venues)." The distinction recognizes both the size and the intentional focus on diversity in technology.
"Nearly 129,000 registrations reveal a massive wave of ambition among women ready to lead and build the AI economy," said Grace Lokako, Global Marketing Manager at Logitech MX. The company designed the program as more than just a competition, offering mentorship and industry connections to translate AI skills into actual careers and financial independence.
The Ripple Effect
Every participant received Logitech's new MX Keypad, a programmable tool for developers working with AI coding. Winners took home prize money and championship certificates, but the real prize might be the message sent to 129,000 women: you belong in this space.
Kritika Yadav said the experience showed her how generative AI can create practical solutions affecting people's everyday lives. Her financial literacy tool addresses a challenge many women face, moving beyond information to actual understanding and confident decision making.
The hackathon proves that given access to skills, mentorship, and opportunity, women from every corner of India are ready to build the AI economy. When you open doors wide enough, 129,000 people walk through.
