Every single senior at Southland College Prep Charter High School in Chicago's south suburbs is heading to college with scholarship offers totaling $54 million. It's the 13th year in a row the school has achieved 100 percent college acceptance.
All 135 seniors at a Chicago charter high school are graduating with something extraordinary: guaranteed spots at colleges across America and a combined $54 million in scholarships to help pay for it.
Southland College Prep Charter High School in Chicago's south suburbs just wrapped its 13th consecutive year of getting every single graduate accepted to college. The Class of 2026 collected more than 1,300 acceptance letters from schools nationwide.
Seven students earned full-ride scholarships to California Polytechnic State University. Three more received full rides to Washington University in St. Louis, with a fourth student also gaining admission.
"Admissions to the top schools are important, but equally important is that every student finds a school that is right for them," said Robert Lane, the school's Director of College Admissions. "That has always been the mission here – to make sure every child leaves Southland with a pathway to success."
The graduating class didn't just excel academically. They made history in the arts and athletics too.
A team of seniors won the school's first-ever state championship in IHSA Short Film with their production called Soul Music. The Speech Team captured their fourth state title in Performance in the Round, while the choir earned gold at the World Heritage Festival in New York.

The school's marching band and Marching Lady Eagles performed at the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washington, D.C., representing Illinois as one of just 10 high school bands selected nationwide.
Here's something remarkable: six of the top 10 students in the graduating class are members of the band and dance programs. The connection between arts and academics runs deep at Southland.
Valedictorian LeiLani Barnes will attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to pursue kinesiology and dance. She's captain of the competitive dance team and co-captain of the Marching Lady Eagles.
Salutatorian Loren Rounds is heading to Yale University to study political science and public health. She's a section leader in the marching band and performs in the jazz band.
The Ripple Effect
Southland College Prep proves what's possible when schools combine rigorous academics with strong arts programs and unwavering support. For 13 years running, this model has opened doors for hundreds of students who might otherwise face barriers to higher education.
The school shows other communities that 100 percent college acceptance isn't just a dream but an achievable goal with the right commitment and resources.
These 135 graduates are heading off to shape their futures with confidence, financial support, and proof that their talents matter.
