15-Year-Old JJ Gabriel Called Up to Manchester United

A teenager who hasn't even started his high school exams yet just got called up to one of the world's biggest football clubs.

JJ Gabriel, just 15 years old, has been named to Manchester United's senior squad for Friday's friendly match against Rosenborg in Norway. The young forward scored an impressive 26 goals last season for United's Under-18 team, even though he was only 14 when the campaign began.

Gabriel first turned heads in April 2025 when he made his Under-18 debut at just 14 and a half years old. United beat Leeds 13-1 that day, but the real story was Gabriel's 25-minute appearance that showed off his pace, balance, and natural goal-scoring ability.

The Londoner went on to score 29 times in 32 appearances last season, helping United reach both the FA Youth Cup and Premier League Under-18 cup finals. He was so dominant that he nearly became the league's top scorer, only getting edged out in the final couple of games.

United's leadership knows they have something special. Director of football Jason Wilcox personally convinced Gabriel to stay with the club last summer, and manager Michael Carrick has kept him training with the first team regularly.

The club has shown Gabriel uncommon access for such a young player. He's been invited to the directors' box multiple times and even met with legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson after a match last December.
