200+ Celebrate Eid in New York Unity Event

When over 200 people from different faiths, cultures, and backgrounds come together to celebrate, something special happens. The event, organized in partnership with the Consulate General of India in New York, drew an impressive guest list. New York State Senator John C. Liu attended alongside city council members and assembly representatives. Even Congressman Gregory W. Meeks sent a representative to present a Congressional Certificate of Merit.

NY Consul General Binaya Srikanta Pradhan spoke about India's long history of religious coexistence and cultural diversity. He highlighted how the consulate is expanding its reach with new satellite centers in Edison, Columbus, and Boston to better serve communities.

The celebration took on deeper meaning given recent regional challenges. Consul General of the United Arab Emirates Amna Almheiri acknowledged difficult times in the UAE and surrounding region. "Things are now improving," she said, calling the gathering "a true celebration of peace, unity and hope."

IAMNA Chairman Ilayas Quraishi emphasized that the event went beyond religious observance. "This gathering is not just about celebrating Eid, but about celebrating our shared values and collective identity," he explained, noting how Indian Americans contribute positively to broader American society.

The organization honored two entrepreneurs, Palvesha Yasin Latiwala and Asra Rashid, for their community service. The recognition highlighted how individual efforts strengthen the entire community fabric.
