21 Kidnap Victims Rescued in Nigeria Forest Operation

Twenty-one kidnapping victims are reuniting with their families tonight after Nigerian security forces rescued them from a forest hideout in Kogi State.

The rescued group includes 15 National Youth Service Corps members who were kidnapped last Wednesday while traveling from their orientation camp in Bayelsa State to Abuja. Six other people abducted separately in the same region were also freed in the operation.

A combined team of military personnel, police, state security agents, and local volunteers tracked the victims to forests in Ofu Local Government Area. The coordinated search and rescue mission safely recovered all 21 people on Monday afternoon without any reported casualties.

The group of eight men and 13 women are now receiving medical care before heading home. The NYSC members had just finished their three-week orientation camp, a required service program for Nigerian university graduates, when they were taken.
