30 Full Scholarships for African Tech Leaders at ASU

Young Africans dreaming of advancing their tech skills just got a golden opportunity to make it happen without the financial burden.

Arizona State University and the Mastercard Foundation are opening applications for 30 full scholarships covering two-year master's programs starting in 2027. The deadline is September 27, 2026.

The scholarship goes far beyond tuition. It covers visa costs, English proficiency tests, flights to Phoenix, on-campus housing, healthcare, and textbooks. Students won't need to worry about a single expense while earning their degree.

Eligible programs include computer science, data science, robotics, clean energy systems, and human systems engineering. All degrees focus on technology and innovation fields where Africa needs skilled professionals most.

Applicants must be between 18 and 33 years old, hold citizenship from an African country, and have earned a bachelor's degree by August 2027. A strong academic record equivalent to a 3.5 GPA is required.

The program seeks more than good grades. Selection focuses on demonstrated leadership, community service, and commitment to creating positive change back home. Students must not have previously completed a graduate degree and need to relocate to ASU's Tempe campus for the full program.

Beyond academics, scholars participate in leadership development, mentorship programs, and professional networking opportunities. The goal is preparing graduates to drive meaningful social and economic progress across African communities.
