32,000 Working Students Earn Top Academic Honors

Over 32,000 students just proved that balancing work, family, and education doesn't mean sacrificing excellence.

University of Phoenix recognized 32,416 students on its July 2026 President's and Dean's Lists for outstanding academic achievement. Nearly 9,500 earned perfect 4.0 GPAs while most worked full-time jobs and managed family responsibilities.

The university invited honor students to share their success stories on Reddit. The 787 responses painted a powerful picture of determination and resilience.

Derell Vanstory completed his Bachelor of Science in Business while working and raising a family. This fall, he's pursuing dual master's degrees in business and health administration to launch a healthcare leadership career.

"Success isn't about having an easy path," Vanstory said. "It's about continuing to move forward even when things get difficult."

Reenae Flores, studying human resource management, described her Dean's List recognition as representing "late nights after work, balancing family life, and refusing to give up on a dream that once felt out of reach." The flexibility of her program let her advance professionally while staying present for her children.

Alisha Saffold graduated summa cum laude with a perfect 4.0 in health management. She's now pursuing a Master of Public Health degree, applying every lesson directly to her passion for improving healthcare access in underserved communities.
