Nigeria Launches Food Security Program in Southeast States

A major food security initiative is bringing new resources to Nigeria's Southeast region, marking a significant step toward community resilience and empowerment.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria's First Lady, arrived in Anambra State Thursday morning to launch the National Community Food Bank Programme for the Southeast zone. The program aims to improve food access and security for families across the region.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo and other state leaders welcomed Senator Tinubu at Chinua Achebe International Airport in Umueri at 11:31 a.m. Local cultural groups performed traditional dances to celebrate the occasion, showcasing the community's enthusiasm for the new initiative.

The First Lady's visit included multiple stops focused on strengthening local communities. She kicked off a statewide empowerment programme designed to provide resources and opportunities to residents across Anambra State.

Senator Tinubu also traveled to Federal Polytechnic in Oko to inaugurate a new ICT Experience Centre funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund. The technology center will give students modern tools and training to prepare them for digital careers.
