4 Mexican Hotels Rank Among World's 50 Best

Four Mexican hotels just earned spots on the world's most prestigious hospitality list, proving that luxury with purpose is thriving south of the border.

The 50 Best Hotels rankings, announced September 15 in Paris, featured Mexican properties at numbers 9, 23, 25, and 47. Each resort represents a different state and a unique vision of what makes Mexican hospitality special.

Leading the pack at number nine, Chablé Yucatán sits nestled in jungle near Mérida, where contemporary design meets ancient Maya culture. The wellness retreat offers temazcal ceremonies, meditation, and treatments rooted in regional healing practices, all set within a former henequen plantation.

The property also took home the Bombay Sapphire Eco Hotel Award for 2026. Its sustainability model draws from Maya agricultural traditions, incorporating solar energy, composting, food waste reduction, and deep partnerships with surrounding communities.

One&Only Mandarina climbed to 23rd place from 39th last year, earning recognition for its low-density luxury on Riviera Nayarit. The resort tucks into the space where rainforest, mountains, and Pacific beach converge in Compostela.

Down in Baja California Sur, Las Ventanas al Paraíso claimed spot 25. The Rosewood resort sits where desert meets the Gulf of California in San José del Cabo, featuring Mexican-inspired architecture that honors the peninsula's arid beauty with natural materials and open spaces.

Rounding out the list at 47, Maroma brings boutique Caribbean vibes to the Riviera Maya. The Belmond hotel recently renovated with a focus on Mexico's artisanal heritage, offering guests access to one of the region's most stunning beaches alongside authentic Mexican cuisine and design.

These rankings shine a global spotlight on Mexico's tourism industry while highlighting how luxury travel can honor local culture and environment. Chablé's sustainability award particularly demonstrates that travelers increasingly value properties that give back to their communities.

The recognition extends beyond accommodations too. Bekeb, located at Live Aqua Hotel San Miguel de Allende, landed on Travel and Leisure's 25 Best Hotel Restaurants worldwide, proving Mexican culinary excellence travels well.
