53 Students Join Ivy Tech Honor Society in Indiana
Community college students are proving that academic excellence thrives at two-year institutions. Ivy Tech's Hamilton County campus just inducted 53 high-achieving students into one of the world's most prestigious honor societies.
Fifty-three students at Ivy Tech Community College in Hamilton County, Indiana, recently earned recognition that puts them among the top achievers in higher education nationwide.
The students joined Phi Theta Kappa, the largest honor society in higher education with more than 3 million members worldwide. Getting in isn't easy: students must complete at least 12 credit hours while maintaining a 3.5 grade point average or higher.
The Hamilton County campus launched its Beta Omega Epsilon chapter just three years ago. In that short time, 151 students have earned membership, showing that academic excellence is growing in the community.
The honors didn't stop at induction. At the Indiana Regional Conference in Columbus earlier this year, students attended workshops on managing time, overcoming imposter syndrome, and using artificial intelligence responsibly in their studies.

The chapter itself earned major recognition at Indiana's Hallmark Awards. The group received Three Star Level Chapter Recognition for overall excellence and won the Hoosier Service Award for organizing a food drive that supported families through the Noblesville Township Office.
The Ripple Effect
When community college students succeed, entire communities benefit. These 53 new members represent parents returning to school, recent high school graduates choosing affordable paths, and career-changers building new futures.
Haele Edens received the Susan Jackson Award for exceptional contributions to the chapter. Amanda Babic, a new advisor, earned recognition for her leadership and dedication to student development.
The chapter also won the Reach Reward for outstanding achievement in welcoming new members and keeping students engaged throughout their academic journey.
Community colleges serve as gateways to opportunity for millions of Americans, and these students prove that affordable education and academic excellence go hand in hand.
