654 Jobs Coming to Mississippi in $528M Energy Project

A Mississippi county is about to see its biggest economic boost in years, as Hitachi Energy announces a massive expansion that will bring hundreds of jobs to the area.

Hitachi Energy is investing $528 million to expand its transformer manufacturing operations in Copiah County, Mississippi. The project will create 654 new jobs and represents the company's largest investment in the United States to date.

The expansion includes purchasing a 45-acre site at the Copiah County Industrial Park in Gallman, building a new facility, and adding advanced manufacturing equipment. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with the new transformers rolling off production lines by 2029.

The factory will produce small power transformers that are critical for keeping electricity flowing across North America. By expanding domestic manufacturing capacity, the project strengthens the U.S. supply chain for essential energy infrastructure at a time when demand is growing rapidly.
